Editor at the 90 Days, 90 Voices storytelling project
February 2017 – Present
90 Days, 90 Voices tells the stories of those seeking a home in the United States during an age of unrest. The storytelling project gives a glimpse into the hardships endured by refugees, asylum seekers, and undocumented immigrants who are being impacted by President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. As a reporter, I’ve used “as told to” narrative profiles, photo stories, and graphic journalism to share stories from these at-risk immigrant communities.

Temporary Researcher at The Chicago Reporter, Community Renewal Society.
January 2016 – April 2016
I was a temporary researcher on the “Settling for Misconduct” interactive database. This was an investigative project focused on Chicago police misconduct lawsuits from 2012 to 2015. In this role I reviewed, analyzed, summarized and fact checked over 700 court documents alongside two other researchers. The goal of the project was to create an easy to navigate, searchable database showing where, how and when police misconduct happens in the city of Chicago. The United States Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division cited the database in its 2017 report on the Chicago Police Department because “Until the Chicago Reporter created its database…little information about these settlements was publicly available.”
